When launching Out in Colombia Travel, we made a commitment to create the type of travel experience that enriches the lives of gay travelers in Colombia as well as members of the local community. We strive to promote tourism that provides a valuable and enjoyable experience to our clients, while also helping to uplift Colombia’s communities.
That’s why we’ve decided to focus on creating sustainable tourism practices. That is, we hire local guides to inject financial resources into local communities, provide intercultural exchanges to celebrate Colombia’s diverse cultures, and do our best to limit the damage done to the magnificent bio-diverse environment found in Colombia’s two coasts, rainforests, and vast mountain ranges.
To do this, we are first taking the initiative to become experts in sustainable tourism. Our founder, Sam Castañeda Holdren, was recently featured in a story about Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability, where he is a student pursuing a Master of Sustainability Leadership. In the story, Sam discussed the ways in which that academic program is shaping Out in Colombia Travel’s strategy to promote sustainable tourism and gay travel in Colombia. Tourism has the powerful ability to transform communities, especially in developing countries like Colombia. And through our gay travel programs, Out in Colombia Travel is working to ensure that Colombia’s LGBT community is included in the country’s upward growth. We invite you to be a part of that effort. When you book your vacation through Out in Colombia Travel, your dollars are going help gay and gay-friendly guides, hotels, and tourism providers. And as we continue to develop our expertise in sustainable tourism, we’ll continue to grow that network.
